Uniting Against Gun Violence: Gun Violence Awareness Month 2022

In a resounding call to action, mayors, advocates, and faith leaders from across New York State have joined forces to announce the New York Gun Violence Awareness Month 2022 (GVAM) Campaign. Supported by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Human Justice Leader K. Bain, and Anti-Gun Violence Advocate Linda Beigel Schulman, this statewide initiative aims to confront the epidemic of gun violence that plagues communities in New York and beyond.

At the heart of the New York GVAM Campaign is a collective commitment to raising awareness about the devastating impact of gun violence and advocating for meaningful action to address its root causes. By shining a spotlight on this pressing issue throughout the month of June, organizers hope to galvanize communities, policymakers, and individuals alike to take a stand against gun violence.

During the campaign launch, Linda Schulman underscored the importance of solidarity in the fight against gun violence. She emphasized the need for mayors, faith leaders, community advocates, and even responsible gun owners to come together in pursuit of a safer, more secure future for all New Yorkers. This sentiment was echoed by our Executive Director K Bain, who spoke passionately about the need for collective action to end the epidemic of gun violence.

Linda Beigel Schulman, who tragically lost her son in the Parkland shooting, issued a heartfelt plea for gun owners to stand with those affected by gun violence. She emphasized that responsible gun owners share a common desire for safety and urged them to join the movement to end the scourge of gun violence once and for all.

As the New York GVAM Campaign gains momentum, organizers are committed to amplifying their message and mobilizing communities across the state. Through a combination, public awareness initiatives, and legislative advocacy, they aim to build a safer, more resilient New York for generations to come.nWhether you're a concerned citizen, a community leader, or a policymaker, your voice and your actions matter in the fight against gun violence. Join us as we work together to raise awareness, drive change, and create a future free from the threat of gun violence.

Together, we can make a difference.
