CCD 2023 Year in review by the numbers!

Based on our exploration and review of CCD operations, staff, and leadership, (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023) it is clear that its robust programs, service offerings and activities have reduced violent crime in New York City. According to NYPD data New York City had 386 homicides last year which fell by 11.9% (386 vs. 438) in 2023 compared to 2022,

These findings provide evidence and support for the Human Justice model. CCD has made a clear mark on the landscape of community- led public safety. Its mark can be seen both directly on the lives of individuals, families and communities in New York City and across the country as well as indirectly on the capacities of other organizations, agencies and institutions to support human justice and healing and end community gun violence. From the perspective of the Human Justice & Healing movement, CCD has proven itself a leader in the movement towards addressing the structural determinants of violence.
